Not seeing is a flower

This mix came about from an idea by a listener, Kevin. He suggested a mix based on artists from Japan. I asked for track recommendations and Kevin came back with an entire list. That list fills out most of this mix. I added tracks by Hiroshi Yoshimura, Geskia!, Sawako and Akira Kosemura.

Kevin also suggested the title - "Not seeing is a flower" which means that reality can't compete with imagination. The mix itself is a fairly straight forward mix of ambient tracks from Japan.

Thanks to Kevin for doing all the heavy lifting on this mix. I think it turned out great.

Cheers!

Great job Kevin, superb selection and great mix Dave.

PS: Dave, can't you moderate the irrelevant comments that get posted?

A very tangible & somewhat tuneful mix that has the listener engaged from their first hearing. Also, somewhat more diatonic then we are used to listening to in the blog. The music is interesting without needing to resort to noise overlays, isolationism, dark ambient, or other discordant techniques. There's a lesson for all of us here from these Japanese composers and artists, and we ambient-types should be enlightened by it.

Interstellar, I'm so glad you're still digging this mix!

Hi Dave,

What happens is a mix is played as part of the station's repertoire and is given a chance to sink-in. Therefore some of my reviews may appear several months after the mixes release.
