Sea of Stars 2020

I've been working from home for a couple of months and you'd think I might have some extra time to work on some mixes with being locked down and all. But nope, I seem to have fallen farther behind with a lot of things.

I wanted to get a mix up onto Mixcloud so that I don't go too long in between uploads. But I hadn't done anything new so I was looking through some old mixes that were posted here but never made it to Mixcloud. And I found one from 2008 called Sea of Stars. I still listen to it occasionally as sleep music so I decided this would be a good one to share on Mixcloud. But I couldn't pass up the chance to tweak it a bit so I hacked off the last two tracks and added 5 new tunes. The new mix is now an hour & a half long, perfect for sleeping or laying out under the stars watching for satellites.

This mix was originally posted in 2008 so think of it as the light from many of the stars in the sky in 2008 is just now reaching earth so playing this mix fits perfectly. I plan on posting another revised version in 2032.

Cheers!

Hi dave, great mix. I am the same kevin of Fire and Ice, still listening. Have changed my email, cant find yours, it was a few years ago. Could you think about doing something based on music from Japan? or maybe just based on Anoice, Rilf, and the Ricco label. All the best, take care

Perfect for sleeping? Hats off to you if can sleep through beeps, loud climaxes, and astronaut conversations. Please compare with Ocean Echoes (May 21, 2017), probably your best sleep mix to date. Now that’s the perfect sleeper.

As far as 2008-2020, there is headroom to improve the impact of your statement. On the 12th year of the original mix's age, the number of star systems emitting light in 2008 that can actually reach the Earth increased from 3 systems to 8 systems.

Interstellar - I never thought about it in terms of expanding the number of systems. Thanks for listening!

Kevin - I think a Japan music mix is a great idea. I'll have to dig through my collection to figure out what I have that fits the bill. Do you any suggestions? Here's my email -davemichuda@gmail.com - send me any ideas you have for a music from Japan mix.

Cheers!

RE: "...think of it as the light from many of the stars in the sky in 2008 is just now reaching earth so playing this mix fits perfectly."

If you never thought about it in terms of expanding the number of systems, I have no idea why 2008 is special. Light from stars of all distances are reaching the Earth all the time no matter what the year of a mix.
