Just thought I'd let everyone know about some mixes I found. I have been listening to a lot of ambient-dub lately and was recently turned on to the music of bvdub. Really excellent minimal/dub/techno/ambient music.
Anyway, Brock Van Wey alias bvdub has a page full of his own mixes that most Low Light listeners would really enjoy. I'm spinning "9900 sorrows | ambient guitar drone" right now. A great mix I wish I'd done myself.
Here's the link to the bvdub mix page...

Thanks for the link (and for your own wonderful mixes too!).
Here's a nice mix I ran across the other day: http://modyfier-modifying.blogspot.com/2008/07/blog-post.html
Cheers for the great link - are there any tracklistings for these?
I just sent out an email today asking after the tracklists. I'll let you know if I get anything back.
That's great, cheers Dave.
I emailed Brock about tracklists, and he said he doesn't publish them because he believes it's more effective if the listener doesn't know what's coming. Without the tracklist the listener doesn't have any preconceived ideas about the mix.
He also said that he is "a pursuer of hard-to-find music" some of the tracks are rare one-of-kind or obscure tracks from artists, netlabels, or other labels that don't even exist anymore.
I definitely see what he means about not having pre-determined ideas about where the mix is going. I don't recognize 90% of the music in those mixes, so it's always a strange & wonderful experience listening to them.

A great mix indeed, pity about the tracklist because I'd like to learn about the music too. Thanks for this link!
thanks very much for the nod, and the kind words about 9900 sorrows... of all the mixes i ever did, it's probably the one people comment on least (if at all), but it's always been one of my favorites. my only regret is the audio quality, as back when i made it, 128k was pretty much the standard...
as far as tracklists, what Dave said was indeed correct. i never posted tracklists for any of my mixes for the exact reason i told him... and unfortunately, as a result, i never even kept them around for myself either, so in most cases, i genuinely don't know the tracklist. i'm not just being a jerk ;) but that mix especially contained pretty much entirely music that was obscure one-off tracks from now defunct netlabels, and a lot of artists from the old days of MP3.com.
actually i do know the artist of the first track, as i still have the CD he kindly sent me in trade for a CD of the mix. his name is Steve Ochre... but not only does the last CD i have of his date back to 2000, but a search of his name resulted in nothing, so i don't know if he's even still around.
awesome blog, and awesome people on here... glad to meet you guys.
thanks
brock (bvdub)
